Get Involved!
Join the Illini Moms Board
Please join us for our annual meeting on Saturday April 15th, 2023 from 8 am-10 am at the Illini Union.
The Moms Association at the University of Illinois was created in 1923 (yes, 100 years ago!) for the purpose of promoting the welfare and interest of the University and its students through services and open communications on campus and throughout the state. The Board of Directors is made up of committed volunteers that are mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, and/or mom figures in the life of a student attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Board takes on a leadership and governance role working closely with the staff of the Parent and Family Programs office.
Board membership is an extraordinary opportunity for individuals that are passionate about the University and the mission of the Association. The Moms Association seeks board members with experience in areas such as business, government, education, human services, philanthropy, human resources, accounting and other disciplines as well as those that have a passion for volunteering. The board meets nine times per year, usually on the third Sunday of the month.
Board Member applications should be submitted by September 15 for the following academic school year. Interested individuals may submit an application throughout the year for future consideration but new board members are generally selected and seated every fall. We hope you will consider joining our dynamic group of Illini Moms!
Become an
Illini Moms Ambassador!
The Moms Association at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign is thrilled to introduce the Illini Moms Ambassador program! The Illini Moms Ambassadors are a volunteer committee of the Moms Association of the University of Illinois who build relationships with Moms and Mom figures of UIUC students (both in person and through social media), integrate into the UIUC community by attending on-campus events, and help the Moms Association volunteer in ways that make the UIUC experience a positive one for all families. The role of an Illini Moms Ambassador is a very special one. Moms or Mom figures who are already volunteering, sharing experiences, and supporting one another, and whose students are active in the UIUC community are excellent candidates. We welcome parents who are representative of the diversity of UIUC.
Illini Moms Ambassadors volunteer at activities sponsored by the Illini Moms or the Office of Parent and Family Programs. Ambassadors connect with families, form relationships, help each other create and sustain ties to the University, and become a part of their student’s college experience. Examples of past events we in which we need volunteers include: Selling Illini Moms merchandise at the Moms Weekend, speaking to parents at the new student welcome day, and being a part of the University’s dialogue of change.
