Illini Moms Scholarship Winner Updates

Since I graduated in May 2024 I've been working as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Rush University during my gap year before applying to medical school. I've learned an immense amount in the past eight months and wouldn't have been able to get to where I am without the support of receiving this scholarship.

Thallyta was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is currently a third-year JSD (Doctor of the Science of Law) student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College of Law. Thallyta has been involved with social projects that combat poverty around the globe using various tools and is now developing a dissertation that unites her personal, professional, and academic experiences to keep contributing to the fight against one of the oldest and worst issues the world faces.  Her current project is entitled “Excusing Legal Requirements on Claims Based on Poverty Status.” 

I am majoring in Creative Writing and am working at Champaign Public Library. As a library page I get to learn more about the library system! It’s extremely useful because I plan to get a masters in Library science and pursue being a Librarian!​

I am currently furthering my education by pursuing a graduate degree in speech-language pathology at the University of Illinois. I am extremely grateful for the support and generosity of the Illini Moms Association, which has helped me reach this step in my educational journey.
